Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) Electronic Logging Devices (ELD) Update 

WASHINGTON (DEC. 15) – Monday, December 18, 2017, is the implementation date for the Congressionally-mandated Electronic Logging Device (ELD) final rule. After this date, all vehicles and drivers that were previously required to fill out paper log books will be required to have either a grandfathered AOBRD (Automated On- Board Recording Device) or an ELD. No hours of service rules were changed because of the ELD rule.

WASHINGTON (Oct. 31) — Tuesday, the Senate Commerce Committee heard testimony from Raymond P. Martinez, President Trump’s nominee to head the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration. In light of the upcoming December 18 deadline for implementation of ELDs, his comments were of particular interest to many in the trucking industry.
