The October Driver of the Month is Jose Perez of New Castle, Delaware. He drives for FedEx Freight at the New Castle terminal where he pulls twins. He started driving professionally in January of 2002 and joined FedEx in May of the same year. His fourteen years of driving experience includes more than 1.3 million miles on the road. He has driven accident-free for the last nine years, has a clean driving record and no roadside inspection violations for the past year.
In DMTA’s Truck Driving Championships Jose has taken home a number of trophies through the years. He has taken second place and first place trophies in the Twins Class, a first place trophy in the 3-Axle Class and in 2013 won the Pre-Trip Trophy. He has participated in the National TDC two times.
His safety supervisor reports, “Jose shows professionalism with everything he does at FedEx Freight. His passion for doing things right has allowed him to work safely at FedEx Freight and to compete in the Delaware Truck Driving Championships–winning Twins Class and was Delaware’s TDC Grand Champion in 2015.”
