The August Driver of the Month is William R. Carter of Clayton, Delaware. He drives for J.A. Phillips Trucking LLC. He began his professional career in 1986 and has been with Phillips Trucking since 2009.
During his 29 years on the road he has never been involved in a preventable crash. During that time he has accumulated 2.5 million safe driving miles operating a variety of tractor-trailer vehicles. William has a clean driving record and has had no violations on roadside inspections in the past 12 months.
His employer says, “William Carter is valuable employee to our company. He is known to all of us as Mr. Bill. He is a pleasure to work with and is highly regarded by his coworkers as well as our customers. Many times our customers have requested him to make their deliveries. He is role model for many of our younger drivers. He exemplifies loyalty and hard work. Mr. Bill’s safety record speaks for itself. As a retired Delaware State Trooper, Mr. Bill has been on both sides of this industry, which we believe gives him a unique perspective. The transportation industry could use more people like him.”
In his spare time, Mr. Bill likes to travel, ride his motorcycle, and play tennis. He also enjoys spending time with his grandchildren and watching football.
DMTA salutes William Carter for a great safe driving record and his contribution to safety on our nation’s highways. Please join us in wishing him the best of luck in the Driver of the Year competition.
