Awards Banquet

Our final major event of the year is the Driver Technician Awards Banquet. At this event DMTA members, their outstanding drivers, technicians and others come together for a great evening of food and fun. The 2018 Awards Banquet will be held on November 17.

DMTA invites Delaware’s Team of Champions to attend the Awards Banquet and receive recognition for their accomplishments. DMTA’s Team of Champions consists of those who took first place trophies in the Truck Driving Championships and represented Delaware in the National Truck Driving Championships and the SuperTech and Trailer Tech winners who represented Delaware in ATA’s Technology and Maintenance Council (TMC) competition.

Each of DMTA’s Drivers of the Month are recognized for their accomplishments. The Driver of the Year comes from this outstanding group of drivers.

DMTA presents the John Chadick award each year to the member who gives the most of him/herself in volunteer work for DMTA activities.  Sgt. Chadick was a DMTA member who gave selflessly of his time in support of DMTA activities that were of benefit to Delaware’s drivers.  He was a Delaware State Trooper with the commercial motor vehicle enforcement unit. John truly enjoyed being around trucks and truckers and the TDC was his favorite activity. With his friend the late Ed Drum he served as course stewards for many years.  Shortly after retiring from the state police DMTA lost one of its most ardent supporters.  John Chadick passed away on April 14, 1991 at the age of 51. DMTA created the John Chadick award in his memory and makes the presentation each year at the Awards Banquet.

Before the evening can end we have our annual auction.  This event is a lot of fun for everyone. There is a lot of friendly competition in the bidding, and it raises funds for DMTA events. Lastly the evening culminates with the announcement of the Driver of the Year winner.

To fund the Awards Banquet DMTA relies on the generosity of our members, others in trucking and related businesses. We are looking for corporate sponsors, program advertisers, and donors for door prizes and auction items.

Corporate sponsors receive a full page ad in the program and recognition in our multi-media show at the banquet.
